Our fish tank!

This is the largest fish tank in our house. We have a lot of Guppies, 7 Cory Catfish, and 1 Chinese Algae Eater!

This is our Chinese Algae Eater. I named him Wu Ching, since he's Chinese! He's about 4 inches long. He helps eat all the green stuff that grows in the water called algae!

This is some of our Guppies. They're eating an algae tablet that's supposed to feed the catfish!

The fat Guppies are the females and the colorful Guppies are the males! The extra fat ones are pregnant! They can give birth to about 5-50 fry (baby Guppies) every 28 days! We have a lot of Guppies!

This is one of the catfish hiding. This catfish got stuck in a seashell while she was trying to clean it. I found her stuck, so my dad gently broke a little of the seashell until we were able to get her out. She scraped her back and her right eye. All the fish sensed something was wrong with her and tried to kill her! I'm not sure why animals do that. So, I put her in a net with Isabelle, (one of the catfish) so she wouldn't be lonely. After about 2 weeks they were able to be put back with the other fish!

One of the male catfish. The male catfish are smaller than the the females.

This is a Isabelle. She's the only albino catfish we have. It's a blurry picture because it's hard to get them to be still!

Duck egg scrambled!

Rosie laid another egg yesterday! I brought the egg in the house, rinsed it off with water, and put it in the refrigerator!
Later that day, I scrambled the duck egg! My mom, dad and I ate it! The egg tasted exactly like a chicken egg!! Now we will have a fresh egg a day from Rosie! :D

Owl proof pens!

Here are the pictures of the chicken wire we put on the top of Lilly and Tilly's pen to keep the owl out! I don't want it getting my baby goats when they're born!

My dad and I put a tarp up for shade!

Duck egg!

We took all the eggs out yesterday. If the eggs just sit in the nest and they aren't growing they will rot, and become exploders! Exploders is when a rotted egg burst! And it will be a nasty stinky mess!  Later, I am going to try the egg she laid today and see if it taste good! If so, we will have a fresh egg a day!

I rinsed the egg with water to get the dirt off, and then I put it in the refrigerator!

Another photo of the egg!

Roise not hatching her eggs! August 2013

Yesterday, Rosie had 17 eggs in her nest! I was wondering when she was ever going to incubate them! Last night, I emailed the hatchery that I bought my ducks from about her laying eggs. They said it is too late in the year for Rosie to go broody (wanting to hatch her eggs). She made a nest so she will have somewhere to put the eggs! I don't want to have rotted eggs! We are Going to take the eggs out and gather her eggs everyday! Tomorrow, we are going to see if we like the taste of her eggs! Hopefully next year Rosie will want to hatch her eggs!

Memories with the ducks!

I wanted to share some pictures I took as my duckling grew and the fun times I had with all six of them! :)

All six ducklings the first day they came!

Flapper and Rosie's first time being outside!

The next day they all came outside! We put them in the dog pen
during the day while the dogs were put up!

Me holding all the ducklings together!

Their first time spending the night in their new coop.

 Cleaning themselves after their bath!

I had to start them with a small watering pan I used for the goats, until
they could get in the bigger pool!

When the ducklings were finally old enough, I let them swim in the big pool! I had to teach them how
to get in and out though! LOL!

Sweetie and Daisy 7 weeks old!

The ducks and goats together in the yard!

The ducks' last time eating together before Goose, Sweetie, Daisy, and Flapper left the next day to their new home.

 Rosie and Splash stayed.

On my birthday I got to see Flapper, Goose, Sweetie, and Daisy swimming in their pond! They remembered me after a month!

I love this picture!

August-21-2013

Lately an owl has been watching my goats and ducks at night. I think it's a Barn Owl! It's really BIG! We don't want it to get the baby goats when they're born! So, today we put chicken wire on the top of Lilly and Tilly's pens, so the owl can't fly in their pens and get a goat! While my dad fixed the pens I cleaned Buddy's pen and a little of Lilly's and Tilly's pens, because they were full of poop!

This is a picture of the bottom of Buddy's pen before I cleaned it!

Buddy was tied up while I cleaned his pen.

This is one of the piles I made of his work trying to get his pen nasty!

After his pen got cleaned!

Another picture after I cleaned his pen!

Pictures of the owl proof pens will be here soon...
